2018 Resolutions, Goals, Mindset.

Happy New Year!

So, it's not been the best start of the year for me so far (nasty exam season!) and I was in a real low mood earlier but then I watched Sophia and Cinza's "Mind set" video and I totally got inspire! ("sophiaandcinza" are my new YouTube obsession and I totally recommend checking them out)

I watched it and then went straight upstairs and completely tidied and organised my bedroom because having a messy mind and a messy room was too much. Now that one sorted it is time to sort out the other. Just typing this post and thinking about what I'm going to put is making me excited for the new year which is a very good starting point in my book!

Resolution

Okie dokie then first things first, my resolution of the year. Now it sounds pretty cheesy and cliché but in all honesty my new years resolution is "Love Yo Self". For some reason I developed insecurities that I had never had before in 2017 and I just kind of stopped liking who I was so I plan to fix that. Now, in true Alice fashion I wrote down a list because lists are beautiful. I wrote down a list of things that I want to improve and then what I am going to do to fix them because there's no point listing errors with no solution.

So the main things I want to work on are:

Body
Okay so for this one I'm not just talking about the appearance of it, I want to feel fit. If you know me then you'll know I'm quite a sporty person and I actually enjoy going to the gym and doing exercise. I'm not just a January get-fitter. Last year I joined the gym for the first time. It was a little scary at first and I was toddling around like a lost sheep not sure what to do but soon I fell in love with it. Sadly, when I came back to university in September I never joined the gym here (I didn't really like the one I first joined) so I haven't been to the gym in like 4 months. I've been Boxing twice a week still but even there I haven't been exercising that much as this year I'm captain so I coach them on the Thursdays sessions which means I miss out on training. So I've kind of felt and looked like a potato for the past 4 months especially after the Christmas season (one too many mince pies hehe). But but but! A new gym opened in Canterbury, Pure gym, and it looks pretty good so I joined up last night and I plan to go first thing in the morning (it's already 1am but I had to get this all off of my chest so wish me luck haha) SO, my goal for this year is to push myself at both boxing and the gym so I feel as fit as a fiddle!

Appearance wise, I'm aiming to get rid of the squige on my belly that I picked up at uni and also rediscover my hips and side bum because I misplaced them. Ooh also this year I want to finally master press ups! I Also need to stop avoiding cardio. I'm just so excited to get back to exercising and feeling great I just need to make time to go there. To go along with exercising I want to look into eating a bit healthier and cleaner so I'm pretty sure a bit of googling and YouTube will help me out.

Mainly though I need to accept my body and appearance, specially my boobs or lack of. I don't have boobs and probably never will so I need to get over it and become a proud member of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee :)

Positivity

Starting after this post I need to stop putting myself down and focusing on things I don't like myself and instead embrace who I am and "love yo self". I also want to start spreading positivity again because I used to be such a positive and optimistic person and I need to relight that positive light in me. just little things like complementing people and helping them see the good in things. I might start doing the occasional motivation Monday posts (no point saying I'll do them every Monday because I already know I wont have time and I'm limiting thins I can fail here.) Like I said earlier, I need to stop caring so much such as what people think about me and the way I look. Every time I feel insecure I just need to ask myself "why do I care?" and I don't so I need to stop caring and take everything on the chin. I'm only insecure because I let myself be and thinking about it isn't going to "fix" anything so why worry about it. There are so many more important things in life and I should focus on those.

General Mindset
This year I just need to focus on myself, as selfish as that sounds. I need to put my need and future a head of everything. I need to focus on my grades at uni and my general wellbeing. I need to stop caring about guys, yes I'm like the only single one of my friends but who cares. I just need to do what I gotta do for myself such as the gym. I'm not too sure how to put it into words as I'm falling asleep now but overall my mind set for this year is fresh. I'm going to be more organised, fitter and positive and stop giving a damn about irrelevant things and love myself.

Goals
A few of my goals to achieve this year are:
  • Get my first tattoo
  • Write the first draft of my novel (finally)
  • Go abroad
  • Read and write more
  • Draw more
  • Blog more
  • Experiment with make up more
  • Complete a Jigsaw puzzle
  • Try fake tan
  • Express my style more (yellow) and post outfit posts
  • Learn a new skill
Well this was kind of rambly spontaneous post but I had to get it out of my head.

Until next time,
Alice :) xx

(feel free to leave your resolutions and goals below, good night!)

"Pretending It's Summer" Spring Makeup & Hair

Long time no see! School and life sucked up all my time.. so sorry.
Anywho, the other day I decided to make an effort so I got dressed (for once aha.. I love pjs), put make up on and even curled my hair.

I didn't go anywhere (apart from McDonald's at 2am ;) ) so naturally I took 5386 selfies to document my efforts. These were the only two I liked but I do really like if that's not cocky to say because they're so bright and colourful AND UNEDITED!

My makeup is pretty basic and you can't really see it here but on my eyes is a pinky shade (I'll list all products below) my cheeks are pink and glowy, my lips are a pink and I put a white eyeliner through my waterline to open up my eyes. Super basic but I think it's a nice "spring pinks" makeup, fresh and quite natural looking. If I do say so myself.

For my hair I curled it with the babyliss curling wand (again I'll link below) and put a sh*t ton of hair spray on because my never holds curls. I have to admit my hair has never curled so well. I'm not sure if it's the wand or the fact that my hair is short now. Speaking of being short, since it's short I didn't achieve the beautiful long feminine curls I was after and instead look like I have a birds nest on my head. I kind of like it though, it's playful and a tad out there which is cool with me :) I'm certainly going to curl my hair more often.. though I should probably invest in a heat defence. Always use protection ;)

With the makeup, hair, tie dye to and dungarees I love this look and will certainly wear it again through spring and summer!

What do you think?

Products used:

Bronzer and Highlight- Collection Contour Kit £3.99

TRESemme Extra Hold Hair Spray 500ml £5.25 (though I got it cheaper at bodycare)

Top- Poor Boy in Hull

Dungerees- Newlook (for years ago though)

Thanks for reading! should post more content soon so stay tuned and don't forget to follow so you don't miss it!

Love ya, bye!

January TBR

Hello! I thought today I'd share my January TBR with you.. So yeah here's what I'm planning to read in the month of January:

Peter Pan by J M Barrie

I've actually already started this and I'm about half way through. If you didn't know, Peter Pan (2003) is all time favourite movie EVER. I'm constantly watching it and could probably reenact the whole thing word for word. Anyway, for Christmas I received this beautiful edition from my sister, Diana and it's just, mwell it's Peter Pan, it's perfect.

Heir of fire by Sarah J Mass

Another one I've already started and I'm 100ish page in SO good, I don't know why I've been putting it off for so long. Probably the sheer size of it. If you're not familiar with the throne of glass series, this is the third book and is very hyped in the book worlds. I highly recommend you go start this series. It's got magic, an assassin, mystery and Chaol Westfall *melts into a puddle* I fancy him almost as much as I fancy Peter Pan ;)

Harry Potter and the philosophisers stone by JK Rowling

I've been meaning to read this for years.. I doubt I need to tell what this series is about or tell you how good I know it's going to be and how much I personally will love it. It's about wizards and witches for crying out loud. I've decided I'm going to read one book of this series a month so starting in January with the first book (duh).

With the size of heir of fire I'm going to taget myself with just three because I'm a terribly slow reader and I'm back at school now so I'll have things to read for class and a sh*t ton of essays to write *cries*

What's on your TBR list this month?

Inspiration Board 2016

First up, Happy Be-lated Birthday A.L.I.C.E ! (10/1/15) It's been a grand years and I'm looking forward another year of blogging! As I said in my new years post, I'm very excited for 2016. I thought I'd make a inspiration/vision board to motivate me through out this year. I don't know about you, but I think it's really pretty and I smile every time I see it :)

What you will need to make an Inspiration Board of your own:
  • Card, foam board, cork board, a piece or anything you can stick photos to (you could always just stick photos to your wall)
  • Pictures of your choosing (Print outs or magazines)
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Paints
  • Masking tape
  • Anything else you want to put on it
What I did was first was stick on something to watch or listen to. My mum and sister were watching the sound of music live which was very good background noise as I made this.

Then paint the background of my foam board with Baby blue and pink and the masking tape for neatness. I did a boarder of blue and pink diagonal stripes across the board. You can do what ever you want, you don't even need to do a back ground, I just though I'd make my board match my room as well as look nice when the board shows through the gaps of the pictures.. if you know what I mean.

Next cut out your pictures and flick through magazines to fine more and words you like. I printed out a bunch of pictures on some photo paper we had and then when to tescos and picked up vogue magazine for £1, purely to cut up (sorry Vogue). In Vogue I found a picture of m idol Emilia Clarke so I was very chuffed.

Now all you need to do is arrange your pictures and stick them on. I sort of sectioned my pictures, putting similar themed pictures together. Like makeup and fashion, fitness, drawing, reading and nanowrimo, travel and festivals, blogging and organisation, etc.

Just remember to have fun doing it and you want to make it aesthetically pleasing but don't take it too seriously.

I painted a Inspire wood thing I got from hobbycraft for 49p (same place I got the foam board form for £3) and painted it ombre with colours to match the board and my room. I then made the 2016 sign out of the back of an old sketch book and glitter. I think these add to the board nicely.

I will be helping my sister do one soon and maybe take a picture to show you since hers will be very different because she had different things that inspire her.

You don't have to make one alone, you can make one with your friends or family. You could make a whole event out of it, having and vision board party.

If you do make one be sure to tag me on insta of twitter because i would LOVE to see them!
